Hero of the Day - Ryan Blair

Ryan Blair (born July 14, 1977) is an American entrepreneur and author. He is the co-founder and chief executive officer of ViSalus Sciences, a subsidiary of the publicly traded company Blyth, Inc. In 2011 he wrote a book titled Nothing to Lose, Everything to Gain: How I Went from Gang Member to Multimillionaire Entrepreneur which reached The New York Times Best Seller list in its category. Media outlets have characterized Blair’s transition from gang member to entrepreneur as an inspirational story. Ernst & Young named Blair as Entrepreneur of the Year in 2012.

Carl Nicholas Karcher SMOM (January 16, 1917 – January 11, 2008) was an American businessman, founder of the Carl's Jr. hamburger chain, now owned by parent company CKE Restaurants, Inc. Born on a farm near Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Karcher was the son of Ohio natives Leo and Anna Maria (Kuntz) Karcher. Leo Karcher's grandparents immigrated from Belgium; Anna Maria Kuntz was of German ancestry. Carl N. Karcher moved to Anaheim, California, where his uncle ran a small business.
